In September 2013 several landscape architecture projects were awarded in Berlin with the “Deutscher Landschaftsarchitektur-Preis 2013″. A special prize for landscape architecture in combination to housing was given to the project “BIGyard Gartenhof” in Zelterstraße (Berlin Prenzlauer Berg), by herrburg Landschaftsarchitekten, Berlin.
The garden yard, 95 m long and 13 m wide, is available to 90 adults and 60 children living around it, responding their their different needs: playing outside, meeting others, relaxing etc. The Youtube video made by the german association of landscape architects (BDLA) shows the different ways, the inhabitants make use of their yard.
